Litter Picking We are a mixture of U3A and people from the community with support from Love Solihull. (The council's initiative to improve the environment) They provide us with green sacks, hoops, pickers and hi-viz jackets. Since we have been going the team's numbers have grown and we have even recruited people who see us along the way and want to join in.

Castle Bromwich definitely looks much better for the litter collected. Of course it is frustrating and we should never have to do it in the first place but it is also an extremely satisfying way to get some fresh air and exercise. Although we keep to just our area we are very aware of the roads that lead into Castle Bromwich and aim to keep those clear as well. We have also engaged with local businesses and had quite a lot of success in encouraging them to improve their shopfronts. We report fly tipping and tackle those hard to reach areas which have never been touched for years. We meet every Monday (weather permitting) at Hickory's restaurant car park at 1:30 pm. We pick for up to 1 hour 30 mins and gather at The Crafty Cow on The Green for a cuppa at around 3:00 pm. Always room for more pickers.

Used Stamps I collect used stamps ALL year round for charity, there are many good causes and you may already have your own favourite but if not please pass them to me for the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) and The Leprosy Mission. Please save your used stamps from your Christmas post. Especially the "picture" ones and any from overseas. Please trim them to about a centimetre all around and separate the foreign ones. This would save me the job! You can give them to me at any General Meeting or whenever you may see me. Many thanks Margaret Riordan

U3A Newsletter request Books/Magazine recycling
If anyone has any books or magazines they want to recycle I'm happy to collect them.
Also if anyone has old mobile phone or computers, the recycling of these by charity is continuing and I'm willing to help with sending them on. The charity we support is the British Heart Foundation. If someone would like items to go to a different charity that can also be done.
Thank you
Michael Buckley

If you have any odd spare balls of wool you could donate, Margaret and her knitters would be very grateful. They are knitting hats for the homeless. Please contact her on 0121 749 1296 and she will come and collect it.

If you have any spare cans, please dispose of them at our collection point Arden Hall (rear carpark) Blue wheelie bin.

Cans are sold to scrap yard to raise money, that is then used to buy food for food banks in the area.
