Members meet in the Shard End Library once a month. We hold a community library ticket and are able to borrow a book for each member. Members take it in turns to pick a book from the Library Book Club service.

The Book Nook

For our annual outing in May this year we went to The Book Nook in Tamworth. The café sells hot drinks and delicious cakes. They stock new and used books.

Astley Book Farm

For our May meeting we went back to the Astley Book Farm.

This time we were discussing the book Our Little Cruelties by Liz Nugent: William, Brian, and Luke: three boys, born a year apart, trained from birth by their wily mother to compete for her attention. They play games, as brothers do… yet even after the Drumms escape into the world beyond their windows, those games—those little cruelties—grow more sinister, more merciless, and more dangerous. And with their lives entwined like the strands of a noose, only two of the brothers will survive.

Astley Book Farm

In April the book club decided to hold its meeting at the largest second hand book shop, Astley Book Farm. It was really cosy beside the log fire in their yurt. This months book was The Girl on the Landing by Paul Torday. We had long discussions about the issues this book threw up and we definitely all enjoyed it.
